Part Three of the Little's Summer Vacation - Rest & Relaxation
Fort Warden Day 1
August 1, 2011
Today was a traveling day. One of the last traveling day’s that is. We started it very early, which is unusual, but today I had a very important goal - that of pestering my beloved sibling.
I had set my phone’s alarm clock to 6:20 this morning, actually a big difference in waking up time than usual. My goal was to take a shower as early as possible, so we could get going in the day. When it did finally go off, both mom (See Footnote 1) and dad (Footnote 2) were already up. Parents, how do they do it? I crawled over to Audrey’s miniscule bed, the dinette, and started shaking her.
“Audrey, get up. You promised to. Time for a shower. Come on.”
“No.”Audrey gruffly mumbled back, not in the mood for doing much of anything at the moment except for sleeping.
“Why not?” I smartly replied. It was now time for the annoyance game.
“I’m tired” Audie whined.
“You can sleep during the traveling.”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“No.”
“Please, Will you come with me?”
“No.”
“You kind of smell Audie.”
“No!”
I had crossed the line. Time for the closing statement/soon to be testimony.
“Well, you’re already awake and these showers are free. Comin’ or not?”
“No.”
“Alrightly.” No was her favorite word again.
I quickly gathered my belongings and started to head for the shower.
“Goodbye mom!” I started, “I’ll be back so-“
“Alright! I’ll come with! But if you say a word I will beat you to a pulp!”
I smiled to myself. It had worked. Guilt traps usually always work!
We silently walked to the showers, and Audrey started to warm up with the now rising sun (Footnote 3). It had been 20 minutes since the time I had set the alarm for. But we got our showers done, and today was going to be a good day.
All clean and non-smelly, we departed from Crystal Peaks with mutual feelings (Footnote 4) (Good ridins! Wait…POOL! NOOOO!)and headed toward Centralia for a quick side stop. Audrey and I were asleep within the first 10 minutes of driving.
We arrived at the Centralia Outlet mall after a certain amount of driving. I cannot tell you how much, I was sleeping. There we looked in and out of the 5 little stores that were there at the side of the mall that we were on. Nothing presented much interest with all of the Little’s until we reached the halfway point… Bath and Body Works. As we went in, we were welcomed with the aroma of many, many scents. All of us were pretty un-interested, until dad entered from potting the dog. He looked around almost anything, trying on all the lotion he could get his hands on. He never even glanced at the small area dedicated to men’s scents; it was all flowery scents that attracted him. Dad himself even realized. “Man, is that weird! I like the flowery, girly scents, the guy smells all suck.” He would later comment. After finally settling on a few (thousand) scents, we departed the store, feeling smelly. In a good way.
Satisfied with our shopping, we went to Wendy’s, the only place with meat other than Quizno’s that was in walking distance. I was personally shocked. They were right about their fries, their awesome! Not that I’m a food critic or anything like that.
Satisfied, we took off yet again towards Fort Warden. And Audrey and I fell asleep again!
After settling in to camp, we played bean bag toss, Mom and my team winning 2 games out of 3! Then we ate dinner (pizza), settled down to a game of Pictionary, the parents winning for the first time. We’ll see tomorrow night. We’ll see. Right now I’m sitting and blogging, which means we’ve gotten to that section.
I’ve set an alarm for 2:30 tomorrow morning, for looking at the meteor showers, hopefully. It has annoying tone too, that sings “Good Morning” over and over again, perfect for aggravating the family (Footnote 5). They’ll be begging me to wake up!

P.S. I did the math, and if I write on the day we get home, I will have written 6 blogs, and Audrey will have written 5 blogs.
Footnote 1: Waking 2 seconds before me.
Footnote 2: Waking 2 hours and 40 minutes before me.
Footnote 3: Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you. Hannah here!
Footnote 4: Mostly relief to be finally leaving though.
Footnote 5: Seems to be my goal today!
Footnote of ALL Footnotes: I actually know how to make a footnote, but this blog page won't allow me to do it the correct way, so I have improvised.
Fort Warden Day Two
Date yet again unknown. All I know is I don’t have to be in school.
Hullo, Audrey back, did ya miss me? I knew you would.
Today we started out with a great movie (according to Dad and Hannah), The Outlaw Josey Wells, and well, I didn’t care for it. Hannah and Dad liked it and Mom seemed to but at this point in the trip mom is a little giddy. Fortunately for me, we still had breakfast. After we had our wonderful (sort of) breakfast of malt-o-meal, we prepared to go into town. Malt-o-meal, big deal. There we planned on going to our favorite ice cream place Elevated Ice Cream, which has reasonable sized scoops (not humongous sizes like at Scoopers). We then planned to venture deeper into the town to go window shopping at the local stores.
But before we left, Dad, Hannah, and I left to go to the fort at the campground. The fort was built somewhere around 1890 and had huge canons to protect Puget Sound from somebody, maybe aliens. I don’t think they ever actually fired their guns at anything other than during practice. Anyways, the guns are all gone and we explored the dark, dark, dark rooms, hallways, and stairs. Did I mention that the place was dark, dark, dark. Well, it was. Hannah went off exploring on her own and she patiently waited for Dad to enter a dark room that she was hiding in. She scared him and we thought he was going to need to change his pants. He said he didn’t but Hannah’s and my noses both said he did. We played at the fort until lunchtime when we had to go back. We got back to LaFawnduh and had lunch and then we ventured out in Kip to town.
We went into town and went to the ice cream place. We walked around occasionally stopping at the store dad was drooling over and then returned to kip.
We drove to the grocery store and bought more stuff dad was drooling over.
We returned to LaFawnduh and had dinner. We played Pictionary and more Washers. We love not having anything to do but play Pictionary and washers.
This is my last blog entry of the trip.
Bye.
