Our family blog began in 2008 when we were fortunate enough to experience a RV trip that circumnavigated America. Our family of four includes Audrey, Hannah, Connie and Tony (+ Cocoa our Chocolate Lab). This blog is simply a diary of our adventures to share with family & friends. The photo below is of the girls at the VERY LARGE ARRAY (VLA) in New Mexico; One of the many fascinating spots that we have been lucky enough to have visited.

"We are full of decency and goodness."
The year 2011 began with tragedy in Tucson.
Regardless of your political preferences, President Obama's speech at the Memorial Service in Tucson, Arizona is simply a "must see". His words are comforting, healing and inspirational.

Initially, I was disappointed as the speech seemed to be an inappropriate political pep rally. But, when one considers that the venue was the University of Arizona gymnasium, and most of the attendees were students, then you can recognize the exuberance of these young people in having their president take time to speak to them, regardless of the reason. . . For most of them, it will be the one and only time during their lifetime that they will be present for a presidential speech.
The president quickly redirected the audience with his heartfelt description of each of the lives lost and of the selfless acts of heroism by ordinary citizens. Individuals who were not professionally trained warriors or first responders but were merely "Average Joe's" (and Jane's) who rose to the occasion when the situation required it.
He reminded the audience to "heal" and to use the heinous event as a means to promote empathy among "all". His words included reminders of a federal judge appointed by Senator John McCain and who was approved by President George H. W. Bush.
The speech was one of the most eloquent speeches that I have ever heard, let alone one of the most profound eulogies.
President Obama continues to "raise the bar" of politics which makes all of us better whether you are a Democrat or a Republican or a Labrador Retriever.
